Our Mission
Our goal is to fund a wellness centre available to the community & accommodation for healthcare professionals to enable doctors/specialist to increase their contribution to the Tambo community and beyond. Through healthy competition & making meaningful connections during the Barcoo Beef Challenge Feedlot Competition we are facilitating opportuinties for graziers to improve their mental health.
Goal One:
Raise Funds
The Barcoo Beef Challenge est. 2020. To date the money raised from the feedlot competition & awards evening has exceeded our goals. Each year we are one step closer to building accommodation for healthcare professionals & community wellness centre.
Funds Raised:
2020/2021 Competition - $45,405.57
2021/2022 Competition - $52,469.95
Goal Two:
Liase with QLD Health
Tambo Primary Health Centre Director of Nursing, Terry Lochrin and Sue Campbell, recently met with and discussed the Barcoo Beef Challenge committee’s fund raising goals with Mr Anthony West, who is the Acting Chief Health Officer for Central West Hospital and Health Services. Mr West said “Treasury and Qld Health look very favourably towards communities who are engaged with, and committed to partnering with Government services to jointly make a difference towards meeting locally identified needs.” As we continue to accumulate funds we will continue to liase with the team at Tambo PHC & the Chief Health Officer for Central West Hospital and Health Services.
Goal Three:
Building Phase
Once we have raised enough funds we will begin the building phase. How exciting! We will work with local government, local tradesmen, Tambo Primary Heath Centre and Central West Hospital and Health Services to create an inclusive wellness centre available to the community & accommodation for healthcare professionals to enable doctors/specialist to increase their contribution to the Tambo community now and for generations to come.
